Talent and perseverance: Albertian students shine in the School Mathematics Championship

The effort, perseverance, and talent of our students, along with the ongoing support of their families, continue to bring great honor to Colegio Bicentenario de Excelencia San Alberto Hurtado. With immense pride, we highlight the participation of 38 high school students in the XXIV School Mathematics Championship (CMAT), one of the most prestigious academic competitions in the country.

Organized by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH), with the backing of various national universities, this championship brings together students from public, public educational service (SLEP), subsidized private, and private schools across all regions of Chile. Its objective is to enhance mathematical thinking, identify talent, and foster interest in basic sciences through individual and team challenges.

The tournament consists of five competition days throughout the year. In this context, on Saturday, August 1, our representatives participated in the fourth round of the championship, held at the Lircay Campus of the Universidad de Talca. Once again, they demonstrated commitment, preparation, and an admirable readiness to tackle demanding academic challenges, consolidating the outstanding performance they have maintained throughout the competition.

This important process has been guided through each of its stages by teacher Martín Gómez, who leads and motivates the students across the five rounds of the tournament. Likewise, we recognize the invaluable support of their families, whose dedication, organization, and enthusiasm make it possible for their children to participate in these growth opportunities, standing by them in every challenge and celebrating every achievement together.

As an Albertian community, it fills us with great satisfaction to see our students represent with excellence the values we promote every day: effort, perseverance, responsibility, and the constant pursuit of knowledge.

We congratulate each of them and their families on taking on this great challenge, and we wish them the greatest success in the fifth and final round of the championship!
